"Business on Wheels" - a way to earn during a crisis
The challenges of the new direction of business were discussed at NCE on the example of the sensational food truck "Obama"
Secretariat of the Trade Committee of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan "Atameken" held a meeting with the participation of state bodies and entrepreneurs on the topic "On the prospects of the development of "business on wheels".
"Today we raise a very interesting topic that is at the forefront of attention - it's a mobile food truck, a small format of catering or "business on wheels". Today, this activity becomes a trend, this is due to the economic crisis: great restaurants do not want to lose their position and appear in a smaller format. These projects have appeared in Almaty, Astana, there a few in Western Kazakhstan and Shymkent. In each region, the activities of these mobile food trucks is not easy. These are serious costs. We would like, as long as the movement has begun, to address this issue together with employers and government agencies", - said the head of the Secretariat Zhibek Azhibaeva, opening the meeting.
Nursultan Sharipbayev was invited to the meeting. He is 22-year-old businessman from Astana, who became the hero of the publications in the media and discussions on social networks after the administrative police of the capital forbid him to open a food truck in the form of a brightly painted bus with the image of US President Barack Obama . Senior Inspector for Special Assignments of the Administrative Police of the Department of Internal Affairs of Astana Bakhytzhan Altybay explained that the young man used a registered vehicle, which he didn’t remove from the register. Accordingly, the conversion of the bus is against the law "On Advertising", according to which the drawing can be applied to not more than 40 percent of the vehicle.
"It doesn’t cost a thing, all it requires is de-registration and to be written off. Recycling fee is collected only during the initial registration of the vehicle. It is necessary to get a confirmation that there is no debt from the tax office and take the bus off the balance. After that, it is necessary to take the certificate for the de-registered vehicle. The whole procedure does not take even half a day and there would be no claims to the painting, and conversion of it", - he explained.
Sharipbayev, in turn, noted that he is aware of his guilt. "I understand that the lack of the knowledge of law is not an excuse. I do not blame anyone, only request to pay attention to the development of this direction, because it is very promising. In Kazakhstan, this trend is not developed, and legally no one can explain what is possible and what is impossible ", - he said.
"This is mobility: where there is an event, we come supply it with food. In general, we launched this project in the run-up to EXPO-2017, since it is assumed that there will be a large flow of tourists to the country. We wanted to help, and to make money on it", - described his project the budding entrepreneur.
However, Sharipbayev said that in any case he is not going to give up. He plans to start a business and develop it further. "The load fell from my soul – we won’t freeze the project, most likely, on Monday I will follow the advice, which was told by the traffic police after that I'll go to the city administration -.. I plan to get three spots in the capital, since I have three buses", - he shared.
"One bus is called "Obama". I would like to call the second one "Nureke" as my name is Nursultan. But, generally, I would like a portrait of President Nursultan Nazarbayev with his permission to portray. The inhabitants of the city would associate the bus called "Nureke" with the Kazakh kitchen, for example, bauyrsaki with kazi, accompanied with something more interesting, mare milk or camel milk. The third one will be called "Vova", there will be Russian cuisine: kvass, fried dumplings", - said the aspiring entrepreneur.
A new project "Business on Wheels" was also presented at the meeting, which will provide services to entrepreneurs working in this direction. Its head, and in combination, manager of “Steelmaster” Anastasia Goncharova told in details about the project.
"We have the technical capabilities to organize the assembly and manufacture of various cabins with completely different kinds of equipment. But our main task is to create an interesting business platform, the so-called focal hub, which will help young entrepreneurs or current restaurant chains to deal with the promotion of this type of business. Today guys who are trying to engage in such business are faced with many problems. We are working with the banks, with "DAMU", we are ready to provide financial assistance to our startups, to take over the function of the training center in order to "train" young businessmen ", - she said.
Goncharova also said that within the project it is planned to launch an autonomous system of quality control. "We are often confronted with the fact that the catering establishments for the first time, are trying hard, and then the quality goes down", - she explained.
"We are sincerely grateful to our guests for giving exhaustive answers. I think that our business is inspired. All questions can be solved through a fruitful dialogue. We as leaders of the Secretariat of the Trade Committee will continue this work. Now we get down to the lower level, we will work directly with representatives of local executive bodies", - summed up the results of the meeting Zhibek Azhibaeva.
