Tulemis Shotanov: "We need to focus on neighboring markets"
At "Atameken" was held a round table with representatives of the institutions supporting SME development in Kazakhstan and Russia
The moderator of the meeting was the deputy chairman of the board - a board member of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan Saltanat Akhanova. "In the ranking of ease of doing business “Doing business in 2016” we are on the 41 place out of 189 countries. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev set a task to enter top 30 countries in this authoritative international rating. It is very encouraging that the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs has become a constructive partner of the Government in the implementation of these tasks. Today NCE has set the task to increase the share of small and medium-sized businesses in the GDP to 40%. So today we must share experiences, communicate", - she said, addressing the guests from Russia.
Deputy Chairman of NCE "Atameken" Tulemis Shotanov in his speech pointed out that today the economies of Kazakhstan and Russia are going through difficult times. "Historically, the economies of Kazakhstan and Russia are very similar, we have the same problems. It is time for us to join again, to revise our guidelines and to focus on attraction of investment, export component", - he said.
"We must first look at the opportunities offered in neighboring regions. Therefore, today we watch with particular interest Russia, China and trying to enter the markets of Iran", - said Shotanov.
Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Chamber also spoke about the regional map of development of Kazakhstani business. "The map gives answers to four key questions: What can be done in Kazakhstan? Where to produce? For whom? With whom I can work? "- He said.
Shotanov added that the map includes a complete register of all active business entities of Kazakhstan with contacts. The register sorts entities by industry, region, size of business. "In each region we have centers for servicing investors. But you had to go everywhere by foot before. Now, it is convenient, sitting in one region, a potential investor can see all the necessary information for it ", - he said.
Managing Director of the non-financial support of JSC "Russian export center" Konstantin Evstyukhin, in turn, spoke about the work of his support Institute. He informed about the opening of the representation of the Russian export center in Astana. "On June 1, we are planning the grand opening. We are very interested to see you at this event. We will present thoroughly tools that will be used by the center for support, the tasks that we will work with you to solve, and opportunities for Kazakhstani business, which we will provide", - he said.
Shotanov noted that information provided by the Russian colleagues will be very interesting to Kazakh entrepreneurs. "As our regional chambers often send inquiries to us in search of potential Russian partners. In addition, I think your experience will be of interest to our state agencies, quasi-public sector", - he added.
"We understand that behind us, there is a large army of entrepreneurs. We, as the authorized persons must constantly promote their ideas, find common ground. Kazakhstan and Russia – it is not only the absence of borders and the single economic space, it is, above all, a common mentality, a common history. We need to work closely, learn from each other ", - he concluded.
