Kazakhstan has improved its position in the international rating of the efficiency of transport logistics
The transport and logistics complex of the Republic of Kazakhstan provided 7.8% of the gross domestic product against 7.6% a year earlier, the revenue of carriers increased by 22.5% over the year, transportation accounts for more than a third of it.
Transport and logistics centers provide free areas for forwarding and transport companies, have parking for trucks. In well-developed logistics centers, maintenance of vehicles, customs, brokerage and other services are provided.
The number of employees in the transport sector is about 620 thousand people. The volume of cargo transportation by all types of transport in the republic for 2016 amounted to 3.517 billion tons, which is more by 0.1%. Transportation of passengers, taking into account the estimated volume of entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation, for 2016 amounted to 22,338.1 million people, which is 2% more than the volume of the same period in 2015.
The operational length of Kazakhstan's railways is 16 041 thousand km, including double-track lines - 4.9 thousand km (30%), electrified lines - 4.2 thousand km (26%). Cargo turnover by rail in 2016 amounted to 188.2 billion ton-kilometers (tkm), which corresponds to the indicator of 2015. The volume of transported goods amounted to 244.2 million tons. Passenger turnover amounted to 18.4 billion passenger-kilometers (pkm) (growth - 5.8%), the volume of passengers carried - 23.4 million people (growth - 4%). In 2016, the total length of roads in Kazakhstan was about 176.2 thousand km. Of these, more than 96.5 thousand km are public roads (national roads - 23.7 thousand km, local - 72.8 thousand km).
In 2016 about 3.2 billion tons of cargo have been transported by car transport, an increase of 0.2% compared to 2015. At the same time, the turnover of goods for 2016 was 160.8 billion tons, an increase of 0.9% compared to 2015. In 2016, 22 309.7 million people were transported, which is 2.3% more than in 2015. The volume of transit traffic by road in 2016 increased by 28.3% and amounted to 1.5 million tons. Passenger turnover for 2016 was 235.7 billion pkm, growth - 6.5%. There are over 137 international and 254 interregional regular passenger routes.
48 air carriers and aircraft operators operate in the Republic of Kazakhstan, of which 22 carry out commercial air transport operations, 26 operate aircraft operators are engaged in aerial work (aviation chemical, forest patrolling, overflight of oil and gas pipelines and other types of work) and 1 - General aviation operators.
On maritime transport, the coastal transport infrastructure of Kazakhstan on the Caspian Sea includes three operating seaports: Aktau, Kuryk and Bautino. The port of Aktau is involved in transshipment of goods in export-import and transit traffic, its share in providing freight transportation in the Caspian basin is about 25%. In the port of Kuryk in December 2016 the first start-up complex of the ferry terminal was launched (420,000 tons of cargo have been handled. Plan by the end of the year - up to 1 million tons). The port of Bautino specializes as a base for supporting offshore oil operations. The volume of transshipment of goods through the port of Aktau in 2016 amounted to 5,842 thousand tons, which is almost equal to the level of 2015 (5,896 thousand tons). Domestic sea transport for the year of 2016 transported 3,082 thousand tons of cargo, which is 7% more than in 2015. River transport occupies a small share in the total volume of transport of the republic. In 2016, domestic water transport transported 1 266.6 thousand tons of cargo.
The main achievements of the transport sector in 2016 were the improvement of Kazakhstan's position in the international rating of the efficiency of transport logistics (LPI of the World Bank). Kazakhstan rose from 88th to 77th place (compared to 2014), this indicator was the best among the CIS countries.
In 2016, all restrictions were removed from Kazakhstani airlines for flights to the countries of the European Union. About 75 thousand people worked in 2016 on the roads, where the reconstruction was carried out under the program "Nurly Zhol". As a result, work was completed on 913 km of highways of national importance, of which 767 km have been opened.
The movement along the transit corridor "Western Europe - Western China", the sections of Astana-Temirtau, Almaty-Kapshagai, Kapshagai-Balpik bi, Beineu-Shetpe and Kokshetau-Petropavlovsk is fully open. Two-fold growth of container transit traffic by rail has been achieved in the direction of China-Kazakhstan-Europe-China from 47 thousand containers in twenty-foot equivalent (TEU) in 2015 to 105 thousand containers in TEU in 2016, which is almost 100 times the indicator of 2011.
At the moment, work is continuing to improve legislation in the transport industry.
Kazakhstan plans to become a Eurasian transport and logistics and business hub - such an idea was put forward by the Head of State in the context of the revival of the Silk Road.
The transport and logistics center of the country provides strict requirements for the architecture of the warehouse, the width of the flights, the height of the storage shelves, the temperature regime, the location of warehouses on the principle of transport multimodality, plus stringent requirements for safety, including fire safety.
