Altyn Oimaq winners presented collections of eco-dresses, coat- backpack and magic felt
The winners of the Altyn Oimaq competition presented their collections at the International Eurasian Fashion Week. The event was organized jointly with Eurasian Fashion Week (EFW) to support Kazakh designers.
Sisters Bota and Aiya Kirgizbaeva, Assel Khayroula, Elmira Bitureeva, and Aidan Karim presented their collections for the first time on the EFW podium.
Eurasian Fashion Week is a new international platform that represents fashion and style from all over the Eurasian continent, bringing together world-class designers and opening up new names in the fashion industry.
As part of the Altyn Oimaq project, novice Kazakhstani designers got a chance to present their work on the significant platform. All of them were satisfied with the show. Each of the designers carefully prepared for the presentations. The fashion event was held in the Congress Center at the EXPO in Nur-Sultan.
The designer from Pavlodar Aidan Karim is a very indifferent person. She has been doing charity work since she was 15, helping people, animals, and the environment. Recently she applied to the Inclusive Content Lab as a novice eco-activist and she hopes to present her project on environmental improvement. With the same message, Aidan plans to create clothes without damaging the planet. She is 24 and she has her own advertising business.
She emphasizes the flexibility of the organizers, who met and allowed to show their collection in her own way, as she prepared and rehearsed it. Although the event had its own rules.
"This collection consists of 27 images, it is called "Urban Wars". Every day, women go outside and fight for their rights, fight with their fears. I wanted to make a dress that would make a person feel stronger. The form of clothing emphasizes the female’s strength without any rudeness. All these outfits are multifunctional. Sleeves, straps, etc. are removed. I drew it a year ago. I have a lot of stacks with different sketches, blanks. When an opportunity comes up, I get them," the designer said. She also said she was going to participate in the Altyn Oimaq contest.
Assel Khayroula works with felt.
"The peculiarity of working with felt is its uniqueness. A true master working in this craft, like a flower that blossoms, fragrances, gives positive warm emotions. The felt is not a hobby for me, but my philosophy. Working with felt, you can create different images, texture, and, most surprisingly, magic," she says.
While preparing her collection for Fashion Week, she handcrafted a fabric using traditional techniques made from natural fabrics and felt. The design of these outfits allows you to wear them every day and for special occasions. Elements of national ornament are used in the clothes.
Elmira Bitureeva calls her new collection fabulous. It is dominated by gentle shades, which give the works of airiness, softness and even some naivety. It is not surprising that she has got such kind of outfits because she created being pregnant. The pregnant designer looked very nice and harmonious on the catwalk.
"Everything was at the highest level: beautiful decorations, a buffet, press walls with photographers. It was very atmospheric," Elmira
Bitureyeva shared her emotions.
"I am glad and proud that I presented my collection at such a level. Before coming on stage I was worried, of course, it was my first show, my first appearance. I was so excited! My family sat in the hall and they were happy and supportive. It was an invaluable experience for me. These are only the first steps. I hope there will be a lot of such events in my life," she said.
Bota and Aiya Kirgizbayeva have participated in fashion shows more than once. Their BotAiya clothing brand is a harmonious combination of color, design, and construction. The collections are mainly made of natural materials. There are a lot of hand-made details - embroidery, patchwork, macrame, ceramics, and eco prints.
Aiya has prepared a collection "Go" in the style of sports chic, sewn from natural fabrics (linen, cashmere, cotton). One of the images was a coat with an author's print reminiscent of graffiti on the city wall, and it was designed with a backpack sewn on the back.
"This is ideal for extraordinary people who are willing to be different than the crowd," she said.
The designer noted the well-coordinated work of the whole team of organizers: project coordinators, director, models, and the team of stylists and makeup artists.
The Bota collection pays special attention to details. The designer used the technique of Kazakh patchwork style and author's ceramic buttons.
She notes that she is very grateful to the competition, which gave the opportunity to present the collection to connoisseurs and fans of fashion.
"Every time I go on the podium, I'm happy to be able to create, share my work with others and make the world a better place to live," Bota added.
The organizers of the Altyn Oimaq project, the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Atameken and the Fund for Sustainable Development and Support of Women's Entrepreneurship, believe that partnership platforms of this type are very important, as they stimulate the development of the country's fashion industry, open new brands and inspire new designers to create further, improving their skills. ⠀
The general sponsor of the Altyn Oimaq project is Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan JSC.
