Finances are required for women
Creation of a special micro-credit program for women - is overdue
Representatives of the Council of Business Women of the Chamber of Entrepreneurs and Business Women's Association of Almaty region met with the Deputy Chairman of the National Commission for Women Affairs, Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Lyazzat Suleimenova.
At an informal meeting they discussed the problems and future plans for the development of women's entrepreneurship in the region. There are 181,325 self-employed women in Almaty region, of them 39 335 are the urban residents, 141 990 - rural ones. The Chair of the Council of Business Women under RCE Mamila Musabekova got acquainted with the work and named the priorities of the activities of the association.
"Despite stimulation of female entrepreneurship, the main obstacles are: lack of information, limited access to financing for business start-ups, unfavorable tax policies and administrative barriers. In this regard, we conduct information campaign on measures of state non-financial support. This is especially true among the unemployed, as this social group is out of sight", - said M. Musabekova.
Secretary of the Board, Head of Human Capital Development Department of the Chamber Almagul Ongarbaeva considers it is important to create special financial support measures for potential and operating female entrepreneurs. According to her, the launch of a new micro-credit program will enhance female business. The main feature of the pilot project was the low rate of interest and the provision of real estate as collateral. RCE and akimat of Almaty region allocated 600 million tenge for small and medium-sized businesses.
"Today, women in rural areas are in need of new measures of financial support. In rural areas, there are a lot of women who want to do business, but their main problem is the lack of funding. In this regard, relevant is the creation of a special micro-credit program for women. I note that according to statistics, most honest taxpayers of loans are women", - said A. Ongarbaeva.
The Chair of the Women's Union of Aksu district Bakhyt Kurmangaliyeva also noted that rural women need the active support of the state.
"There are a lot of women willing very much to start their own businesses and to develop in the Aksu district. But, unfortunately, the second-tier banks do not take propert in rural areas as a collateral. Kazakh ethnic immigrants, who just arrived to Kazakhstan, do not have collateral, but they have a great desire to start a business", - added the head of the district Women's Union.
After hearing the views of representatives of the region, Lyazzat Suleimenova promised to voice these issues at the national level.
In order to effectively address these issues, the Council of Business Women under RCE of Almaty region suggested to hold a regional forum devoted to the mechanisms of the development of women's entrepreneurship in the village of Zhansugurov of Aksu district in July this year.
