Customs Code: waiting for proposals from the business
"Atameken" offers entrepreneurs to participate in the discussion of the main provisions of the draft Treaty on the Customs Code of the EAEU
This document, which has been discussed by the business community of EAEU countries for nearly three years, will be adopted in October 2016.
For any state the customs policy is one of the key elements of the state regulation of the economy. With the right "setup" and "balance", customs regulation can effectively stimulate economic growth and business activity, and vice versa.
Today EAEU has common customs control, which is impossible without the implementation of a fundamental freedom laid down by the Treaty on the EAEU, the freedom of movement of goods and the formation of a single market for goods.
In the context of the functioning of the Eurasian Economic Union, the customs policy determines the development of the Union as a whole, and each state - member in particular. That is why so much time and effort is given to the development of the draft Customs Code - one of the key documents that make up the Union law.
Today, work is close to completion on the preparation of the draft Customs Code of the EAEU, which began in December 2013.
In May this year in Yerevan, at the regular meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, was discussed the issue of the preparation of the draft Customs Code of the EAEU. Following the discussion, the Prime Ministers of the Union obliged EEC and the Government of the Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union to finalize the draft Treaty of the Customs Code of the EAEU, which should be signed by October 28, 2016.
At the recent Astana II meeting of the Business Council of the Eurasian Economic Union, "Atameken" proposed the initiative to business of EAEU - to develop mechanisms of business support, which are not included in the draft Code or insufficient for the implementation of these important projects for each state, and to defend proposals in a single block at the site of the Eurasian economic Commission.
In this connection, on-site of "Atameken" was held a round table discussion on the substantive provisions of the draft Customs Code of the EAEU and offers of business circles on its amendment.
The next meeting for round table discussion of amendments to the Customs Code of the EAEU will be held on June 9, 2016 at 10.00 at the address: Astana, 8, D. Kunaev street, AB "Emerald quarter" block "B", 26 floor, guest-room "Turkestan".
