President of the EAEU Business Council was elected in Astana
The first part of the meeting of the Presidium of the Business Council was dedicated to a question of expansion of its capabilities and introduction of a new position - the President of the EAEU Business Council.
Timur Kulibayev as the Chairman of the Presidium of the Business Council for the current year, proposed for the post of President of the Council the candidature of Viktor Khristenko. According to Timur Kulibayev, "considerable practical experience in the formation and development of the Eurasian integration, as well as the high qualification and competence of Khristenko will undoubtedly give an additional impetus for the development of cooperation between our countries in the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union". Members of the Presidium of the Business Council supported unanimously the candidacy of Viktor Khristenko.
For adoption of changes and consolidation of functional duties of the President of the Business Council in the statutes of the earlier signed Agreement on the establishment of the Business Council. In the new edition the rules of the Agreement extend the potential areas of cooperation of this platform and determine the scope of the activities of the President of the Business Council.
In addition, was signed a Memorandum of cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the EAEU Business Council, the provisions of which provide for the cooperation of the Council with the Commission, where involvement business is foreseen in the formation of the normative legal base of the Union, as well as holding various forums, business round tables with the participation of business communities of the Member States of the Union.
Timur Kulibayev noted the urgent need to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in the framework of the EAEU and transition from policy-making activities to rapid implementation of measures of interaction between the member countries of the Union.
