Kazakhstan has announced a ban on the import of recycled paper, cardboard and waste paper for two years. Over the past two years this issue has been actively promoted by the Association of Packers of Kazakhstan. The Atameken supported this initiative too.

According to the chairman of Board of the Association of Packers of Kazakhstan Batyrbek Aubakirov, this measure will allow the survival of the industry and directly affect investment attractiveness.

“The Government and the Atameken NCE took a principled position on this issue and fully supported us. We were ready to protect our processing plants and develop this industry ” he said.

A large Turkish holding has become interested in the Kazakhstani market, and the question of the availability of raw materials has become a key one. It is expected that three waste paper recycling plants will be commissioned in Kazakhstan this year.
